Gumbo Rally

Never one to leave folks out, I called my little brother last night...

J:Hey, Nate! Wanna get some Gumbo?

N:Dude it's gonna be nasty tomorrow. In the 60's and crap. (Nate is spoiled by Tennessee weather.

J:That's why we're leavin', dumbass.

N: .......

J: ....well?

N: Workin' on it..... (The wheels of computation tick over. Responsibilities are shunted for childcare, yardcare, housecare, calendar obligations are all in the mix; a sticky amalgam of all the things depending upon on a husband and father.)

J: ...... ahem.

N: ..chill!... When're you talkin' about leaving? (The wanderlust has taken hold. This is a powerful pull; Dad's a truckdriver and our wives secretly fear we will, too, one day yield to the pursuit of the fleeing horizon. Irresponsibility, whimsy, and caprice raise their heads to sniff the winds for opportunity.)

J: Noonish. Gotta get a liitle heat in the air.

N: .. Do you wanna borrow the KLX?

J: Nah, I'm good on the BMW......

N: You sure?

J: Look, I'll bring you back a T-shirt or somethin'.....

N: Fuck you you fuckin' fucker!

J: (I try not to laugh. There is the wisp of a possibly that a stifled snort makes it through the ether. This is the best part of these conversations for me. It is always better to be the tempter than the tempted. Lest you have sympathy for Nate's plight you may rest assured the shoe has been on the other foot. He's got it comin'. In spades.)

N: .........I'll make some phone calls.

J: Later man.

N: See ya'.

Environmental Criminal Unmasked

The Evil Earth!

Can somebody explain to me how "Cap and Trade" will be administered with regard to this greenhouse gas producer? Will the "Cap" for everyone else based upon the total official gubmint quantity minus what the Evil Earth spews? Or will the omnipotent obama command the Evil Earth to lower its emissions, or else?

I predict a coalition of hippies and neocons joining forces to convince obama that a War on Volcanoes is a worthy project and a fitting legacy. We have to get this Evil Earth thing under control before it kills..... the Earth! Something must be done! There oughta be a law!

Socialized Medicine: Just What the Doctor Ordered

I know examining an instance where an idea has already been put into practice to evaluate its efficacy is counterintuitive for emoting masses and counterproductive to politicians' goal of extending gubmint control into every facet of our lives, but let's do it anyway.

Britain has been all in with socialized medicine and is one of the bright and shiny places the left holds up as doing things better than us. It seems the British are much more tolerant of little things like, oh.. say, being killed off than the average american.

According to the linked story a hospital in Stafford England has been killing off patients at a high rate due to poor care, lack of care, negligence and Lord knows what the "official report" deigned to leave out. The number 1200 dead in three years
more
than would be expected is what caught my eye.

The Prime Minister is apologizing his ass off to the dead people and telling them it will never happen again. Of course, it only needs to happen once for any one of us and all the apologies in the world will fall on dead ears.

The instructive thing in this situation is to realize that to a leftist the article proves the British system is functioning well in that the government discovered the shortcomings of the facility and moved to correct them within its established program. The most damning conclusion any socialist will draw is that the review interval could use a little tweaking. The conscious among us know the linked result is as inevitable as it is insane.

AIG Bonuses and the Obamatons: We know we didn't know what we knew

Word of the day:

incredulity, disbelief, skepticism, mental rejection (doubt about the truth of something)

So, which is it? Are they the smartest, most well informed, best educated folk in the universe? or are they a bunch of nihilists spouting off about their nonexistent qualifications and qualities in a perpetual amplified feedback loop with the Old Media?

It can't be both... unless this is one of those "nuance" type of situations where what is isn't, but it really is, sort of. That's the way the idea of hoe the Super Scholar Genius Man of the World was unaware huge financial companies paid their executives 7 figure bonuses is being sold.

The sheer convolution required of the damage control effort is something to behold when the reality is probably something closer to the fact that leftists are accustomed to carrying on their shenanigans without criticism (as is evidenced by the thin skin the shiny new president exhibits) and often with active cover from the Old Media either through omission or outright propogation of what passes for rationales among leftists.

Here's what happened: The new fedgov bosses are gleefully throwing money to their fatcat pals all over the financial sector in appreciation for and anticipation of major campaign contributions. Somebody noticed chunks of that cash were going straight into the pockets of the financial companies' officers (same fatcat pals referenced above). That's not what caused the trouble in the Obamanation. What caused the trouble in Obamanation is........ somebody cared. The Obamatons aren't used to the idea folks in large numbers might take exception to their business as usual slimey payola practices. Yes, I know both parties play this game but the other expects to get hammered.

Pull up a chair and we'll watch the next act of the sitcom. What do you want to bet it will all end up being a plot by a right wing extremist(s) taking advantage of Joe sixpack's inability to comprehend the intricacies of high finance? Which, of course, is a good reason for leaving this complicated stuff up to the better judgement, higher intelligence, superior skill, and incisive insight of Obama and the Obamatons. Oh, look, we're back on message!

New Phone Browser: Skyfire Rocks!

It actually works! Skyfire!

Some little reddot looking geek and his pal have this browser in Beta and it runs on winmobile 5 and 6, some other smartphone OS's, and actually displays webpages in desktop format with a useful zoom! Whodathunkit?

I was sittin' around enjoying a rainy day inside and browsing for news on my next phone (Palm Pre) and lamenting a June release date (My old 700wx has had a hard life and I have never been impressed with the built in winmobile web functionality) when I thought to check out Opera and see if it has been improved at all (MrsJAC has the Touch Pro with Opera and Opera doesn't impress - though the TouchPro does)/ The google search turned up the SkyFire site and I am blown away. You will be, too.

It appears to render websites as images and only renders them as HTML when zoomed, this probably takes a bit of processor/battery juice but that's what it is there for. I am sure there are bugs as it is in BETA, but the darned thing works extremely well at what it does. I think a non-touch screen phone would be a bit clunky for navigation, but Treos are the original touchscreen phones, so no worries.

This is also the first mobile browser I have seen will run Vox's shitty Cocomment system.

There Are No Coincidences

Dude Flips out in Alabama. We won't get accurate details until after the handwringing furor has died down and the myths are made. There will be lots of emoting and women all over this country are right now thinking guns need to be taken away from the menfolk for their own good. Even from their own husbands, but he doesn't need to know that...

Dude Flips out in Germany. 17 year old shoots 12 teachers and 4 others with his daddy's guns. Prozac anyone? Ritalin? At least the German police had the 'nads to shoot him themselves - In america our cops hide behind their cruisers and hope he will kill himself after he is doneshooting the defenseless.

The europeans will show us the way... As the reporter hastens to recount the history of such illogical and counterproductive measures in the aftermath of other similar emotive media orgies.

It is times like these that bring out the purely despicable nature of the officious news reporter. Degreed and pedigreed to slant the news and spin it off toward the desired reaction from the casual reader who trusts him to accurately convey, at the very least, the gist of events. Misplaced trust, that. For these cretins are nothing if not propogandists for the left still regugitating and reinforcing the lessons of their October Revolution inspired pasty university professors.

One more step toward the real killing will follow this action/reaction chain. How large the step will be cannot be foretold as yet, and I'll not make any predictions lest they become suggestions to bootlicking scum looking to advance the cause of rendering americans defenseless and at the mercy of an ever more fascist federal government.

The Smartest People in the World

During the Hillary! campaign we were tirelessly told Hillary Clinton was the smartest woman in the world. Many actually believe(d) that. We have also been inundated with accounts of the oratory prowess, experience, massive intelligence, and general wonderfulness of the Obamanation in Chief.

Reality struck in these last few days as it has come to light that the Great Orator cannot compose and articulate thoughts without the aid of a teleprompter no matter how informal or insignificant the venue and Hillary! cannot, with the might and resources of the FedGov at her disposal, translate correctly a single Russian word for use on the world's stage. You may note from the picture that the device she handed him was actually an "E-stop" or "Emergency Stop" button.
You actually turn the knob to begin the process of restarting the machinery. Thus the arrows! Doh! I fully expect OSHA to hand down a mandate that all E-stop buttons are to be hereafter relabeled as Emergency Restart buttons so the SecState can pretend she was right all along.

The Obamanation in Chief has further shown himself to be completely ignorant of economic reality and processes, not to mention the inability to lead by glibly driving the market lower and lower day by day.

Our new Secretary of State went to Israel to explain to Netanyahu about in inevitability of the Palestinian State while rockets from Gaza rained down around them as proof of it's viability.

If that wasn't enough, the Obamanation in Chief floated a trial balloon toward Putin about a deal for some influence with Iran and got bitchslapped back into the cheap seats.

In short, we have seen the annointed elite of the fascist left exposed as exactly what they sought to package Sarah Palin - rubes and amateurs.

Global Warming Scientist: "Pay no attention to the parka behind the curtain."

This cooling trend, see, it all part of a larger picture, see. Yeah, that's it. And a couple years from now, ya' know, or maybe even a few decades from now, it's gonna like start gettin' really warm again. Like really fast! Uhhhh. Trust us. We're scientists.

Brazil or Bust

Here's the deal:

We sign up all the rednecks lookin' to blow this totalitarian leaning fascist Popsicle stand for collective bargaining with the Brazilian Government and in exchange for certain considerations along the lines of personal autonomy, and a decent chunk of real estate we ante up a decent dowry and make our entrepreneurial drive, sweat, and skill sets available to the land of serious timber harvest potential and other, ahem... untapped resources.

Responding to the Ammunition Shortage: What to Do When You Can't Find .223

From Shooting Times

You are, of course saving and scrounging all the .223 brass you can get your hands on. Yes? So,
make your own, right down to the jacketed bullet.

You need your reloading press and a special swaging die. Now gather all the .22 long rifle cases you can so long as they are brass (steel can be used in a pinch and may help with penetration, but it's hard on the tooling and the barrel). Press the spent cases making them into new bullet jackets and fill them with lead! Weight the bullets and load the cases with powder and primer as per your reloading manual(s).

Swaging dies are expensive, to the point one would have to make about 5000 bullets to recover the cost even using "found" lead for the cores. But a man with the right tools can make the appropriate tooling given time and necessity. Something to think on, anyway.

Lawyers: We can't afford them anymore.

Like the lamprey's of the sea attached to purposeful life they draw from the flagging vitality of the flow of resources that is the American economy. They create no wealth, impede investment, only tear down industry and sell their snake oil self-fulfilling prophesy risk management to businesses unable to float the capital to operate much less pay protection money. These are scum. The shit off your shoes.

Case in point:

Aircraft maintenance. I was talking to an aircraft mechanic friend about a Lycoming engine in the back of his truck. He stated he had removed it from an aircraft to receive a minor rebuild, but upon scanning his insurance coverage realized was required to do a major rebuild which included sending the block in to Lycoming for a check and re-machining ($3500.00). Now, Lycoming is going to do nothing to this engine block that the machine shop up the road from you wouldn't do to an old VW engine block (remarkably similar engines) to get it ready for another 200,000 miles ($150.00) with the exception that the machine shop doesn't have to pay insurance premiums through the roof to protect their business from packs of Mercedes deprived lawyers.

The vermin are far too entrenched in our system of governance to be shed readily and will eventually kill off their productive host in its present form. Those of us generating wealth for them to leach need to take note of just how many hours of our lives have been wasted supporting the sons of bitches and take appropriate retribution should the opportunity arise in the coming economic crisis. Hopefully, a starving lawyer will darken my door looking for a handout.... I probably won't shoot him. Probably. But if one turns up missing and my hogs are fat it will be evidence for a Karmic nature of the universe.

My little brother is having a crisis of motocosmic proportions. Where do y'all come in? By doing what folks do best - putting in your $.02. Ladies may advise on colours and passenger accommodations.

His needs are as follows:
1) He has stubby legs, so he needs a low seat height and/or narrow bike.

2) This will be the bike whereon we do long distance road trips, so it needs luggage or provsion for luggage. (See below for what happens to Nate's add-on luggage)

3) Plush passenger accommodations. When DrWho and MrsJAC accompany us it will be up to this bike to haul DrWho in comfort, and there is no way she'll tolerate a pillion pad.

4) Relatively nimble handling, lest he grow to hate the lumbering beast.

5) Rock solid reliability. The Brothers C are so tired of wrenching on Nate's shit.

6) Built in GPS or accomodation for such. DrWHO bought him a really nice unit, but he fears her wrath in the event some mishap befalls it and is therefore afraid to remove it from the box, much less expose it to the elements. Says he hopes to be buried with it...

7) Power to run with a BMW R1150GS.

8) Heavy duty alternator to run gadgets, farkles, and heated clothing.

9) Heated grips. Deal breaker here folks; if the factory doesn't offer them it's a nonstarter.

10) Upright seating position for the long haul. We are not as young as we once were and this posture inflicts the fewest aches and pains after many hundred miles in the saddle. Feet should be under the ass or slightly forward.

11) Eye catching enough that it is not completely overlooked when in the company of my 2001 R1150GS SE.

12) Dealer/owner support while traveling. This rules out the Aprillia Futura and Ducati ST3.

13) At least a 5 gallon tank.
