I've not been up around those parts yet. Traffic on I5 really sucks, and I plan to wait until July to have a chance at nice weather before going to see the St.Helens and Rainier areas.
Back on topic, there must have been some kind of Harley get-together in Coeur D'Alene. The town was full of 50+ men in t-shirts and leather w/out helmets riding Jesse James wannabe chromed, stretched creations polished to within a mil of their lives, true driveway queens. They were obviously uncomfortable and difficult to ride, not fun, all to look cool? I just don't get it.
I also noticed man Road Kings and the like on the road and at the hotels I stayed at, and this is the weird part, they were all shiny too. So what, you drive your RV to the campsite, get out the RK to explore, OK, but then you stay at a hotel only a few miles away? My bike was encrusted with bugs and grime, I had bug-guts on my jacket and the seat behind me, so I know they didn't travel very far. I don't get it.
There were other guys who were obviously traveling, even with HD's and GW's, but every V-Strom or GS I saw was kitted out and dirty. One guy, DL1000, even asked me if I knew how to get to this wiggly line on a map he had, that "might" have been a logging road or worse, but prbably wasn't. He ahd some cool sounding aftermarket pipes and a tank bag (this was at Coulee Dam, and he had come from Bend).
Oh, and most of the HD crowd were dressed like Paul Sr. and wearing earplugs. Funny. Also funny how many rules they have to follow to "break the rules" and "be a rebel."
Mikesbo, since you mentioned I5, if you have any intention of riding I5 from Salem south to Albany, be very VERY careful. That one section of I5 is considered the most dangerous in Oregon. It took out several MC'ers last year. You couldn't pay me to go through there anymore. The layout is not driver friendly at all.

Whereabouts, Wendy? I'm only here for a couple more months, then back to Texas.
I was born in Kelso and lived in Longview. My Dad still lives there. You're making the most of your stay. :)
