Now That's a Barn Door!
Any opportunity to build something is an opportunity to over build it.

Conventional wood doors are subject to warp and rain induced deterioration. Metal over wood always seemed flimsy to me - like you could kick a hole in one.
The door above is 2x6 rectangle steel 1/8" thick. It is laying on a 1000 lb. 1/2" thick layout table bought for that purpose.
When in Rome....
Paint? No way. The doors go to the powder coater next week.
