This thing was in excellent condiion. That exhaust had its twin on the other side. Based on that and condition, I'd say this guy is probably making a wee bit more than stock, which means it'll go like stink and then some.
Yamaha moved the engine closer toward the front on the RD400 to try and tame the unintended wheelie proclivity of the RD350. My first bike was the grand-daddy of this one, the YDS3.

Those old two-strokes were real crotch rockets. And that's got expansion chambers... oohhh... future organ donors of America.
The C4 is still my favorite Corvette. The ones that followed were all faster, but this one looks the best to me.
At least this one has brakes. The earlier ones used drums...
This particular model is, to my eye, better looking than any to date.

Crap. That was me. I hate all these different programs.
I got some great new tires on the bike and I'm trying to figure cool places to go.
Yamasucks is abetter name. Honda rules.
The thing that Honda figured out that neither Yamaha or Suzuki never figured out was the fly wheel and the cam. Both yama and Suck made power bandwith pretty much uniform while Honda made tractors at low RPM's and racing bikes at high RPM's. That was the 70's though, along time ago in a place far far away.
I sold all my other bikes, but still have my 1974 Honda XL 350. And it starts on the first kick every single time.
