I am told they changed the menu to standard restaurant fare. Used to be quite good.

The breakfast used to be most excellent.
Heck, all the food was excellent.

And it used to be called Shakertown.
Not Shaker Village.

That is if we are talking about Mercer county Kentucky.

I'm in San Jose and in the hotel parking lot is a 650 GS fully kitted out for gelande strasse touring: knobbies, Tourmaster panniers, even the little windshield spoiler thingy...and I'm here for work...

It's the value that is lacking in the HD. For a BMW price you basically get a chinese copy of a 1973 HD.

Tourtech, not Tourmaster

OK, on price I'll agree with you. You're not exactly getting a lot for your money. I looked at them, as the dealership was next door to the Suzuki dealer, it felt almost a waste of my time as there was no way I would buy one, precisely because of their cost. They had a used Fatboy, I think it was, which looked nice, but even though it was nearly 1/2 what a new one would cost, it was nearly twice what I paid for the V-Strom, which is the nicer bike, it better fit my needs and wants.

But at the same time, it's hard for me to find fault with someone, or a company, who/which has found a way to separate fools from their money. Legally, of their own volition, and leaving behind deliriously happy fools after their wallets are lightened.

And look at how much fun everyone has laughing at them here :)

They do provide an entertainment function.
