Objective Reality and What Passes for the Liberal "Mind"

Senator Harry Reid is being put through the wringer for stating these verifiable facts:

(1) That Obama is a "light-skinned" black man and that (2) he has "no Negro dialect unless he wanted to have one."

The rationalization of taking offense to these facts averages out to be "We have moved beyond these sort of racial comments". When men's minds have become so befuddled they are no longer able to see shades or hear sounds this will come to pass. The left claims this attribute.

As an illustration of the efficacy of the left's claim to befuddlement I present the following citation from Jeff Davis' Message to the Provisional Congress of the Confederate States of America in April of 1861 regarding African slaves in the South.

In moral and social condition they had been elevated from brutal savages into docile, intelligent, and civilized agricultural laborers, and supplied not only with bodily comforts but with careful religious instruction.

To which, a Befuddled Leftist responded:

Read it. Yeah, he didn't have a very good grasp of the US Constitution. And of course, there's the "brutal savages" and "superior race" comments. Nice.

The Befuddled Leftist's implication that the African slaves in the South were erroneously characterized as having been "brutal savages" is illustrative of the ignorance and bone-deep stupidity the left often holds forth as intellectual discourse. No dictionaries in left-land I take it:

savage
Function: noun
Date: 15th century

1 : a person belonging to a primitive society
2 : a brutal person
3 : a rude or unmannerly person

As for the Befuddled Leftist's disdain for Davis' use of the term "superior race"....

su·pe·ri·or
Date: 14th century

1 : situated higher up : upper
2 : of higher rank, quality, or importance

race
Function: noun
Date: 1580
1 : a breeding stock of animals
2 a : a family, tribe, people, or nation belonging to the same stock b : a class or kind of people unified by shared interests, habits, or characteristics
3 a : an actually or potentially interbreeding group within a species; also : a taxonomic category (as a subspecies) representing such a group b : breed c : a category of humankind that shares certain distinctive physical traits

In each of the above instances both men spoke obviously correctly in observance of objectively verifiable and obvious fact, yet the left hyperventilated en masse media over Harry Reid's truthful statement and the Befuddled Leftist dismissed Jeff Davis honest remarks entirely without thought or even the modicum of intellectual curiosity that would compel one to pick up Webster's.

Obviously, the exercise of reasoned discourse with the modern left is a solitary endeavor.
